Updated

The information on Right Dog Food is general information about dog food, labels and nutrition. It is not veterinary advice, and it can’t replace an examination and advice from a veterinarian who knows your dog.

Not veterinary advice

Our guides, tools and comparisons describe what manufacturers publish and what published research and regulators say. They don’t diagnose or treat any condition. If your dog is unwell, has a known medical condition, is pregnant or nursing, is a large-breed puppy, or needs to lose weight, talk to your vet before changing what you feed.

Data accuracy

Product data comes from manufacturers’ published information and is accurate to the source on the “last checked” date shown on each page. Manufacturers can change recipes, sometimes without changing the product name. Always read the label on the bag you buy, especially if your dog has to avoid specific ingredients. See our methodology.

Allergen results

When our tools say an ingredient is “not found”, it means the ingredient list we recorded didn’t contain a matching name. It doesn’t guarantee that a product is free of that ingredient, for example from shared manufacturing equipment. “May contain” means the label uses a term that could include the ingredient without naming it.

Calculations

Feeding amounts, dry matter values and price per day are estimates calculated from label values and standard formulas. Individual dogs differ. Monitor your dog’s weight and body condition and adjust with your vet’s guidance.
